What did I do for Chanukah day 1?

Put on your yarmelke, it's time for Chanukah. Hope you all had a nice Tuesday.
Do you ever have one of those days where 30 things happen but when someone asks; I dunno, I don't really remember? Well that was me today. Excited about it being a holiday, I got home wrapped Craig's pressie (a bottle of Namaste beer from Dogfish Head), made a delicious shepard's pie. Got the "Hebrew Hammer" all ready. My pressie was the Sherlock Holmes movie. Yeah...
Then my poor baby got home in a funk because he had a guy at work die of a heart attack today. Can you believe it? Poor guy, his name was Jay, he was a round 50 yrs old. You wake up just like any other Tuesday, take a shower, go to work, a girl gives you a cookie, your arm starts hurting, you tell your co-workers you don't feel well, go sit down, fall down and you die. That's it. The end. I really don't know how to end this story. I mean. How do you recover from a co-worker keeling over? God Bless Jay and I hope he's in a better place.

Just posting this for my friend Sheila

Bubbling Asian Fondue From the Sunset Magazine Febuary 2000 issue

Makes 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

•4 to 6 cups bite-size vegetable pieces (choose 2 or 3—asparagus, broccoli, green beans)

•1/2 pound boned, skinned firm-flesh fish such as halibut

•1/2 pound sea scallops

•1/2 pound shrimp (31 to 40 per lb.), shelled and deveined

•Asian broth

•Sauces (choose 3 or 4)

•-Chutney yogurt

•-Cilantro mustard

•-Ginger-soy

•-Wasabi cream

•2 to 3 cups cooked rice

Preparation

1. In 5- to 6-quart pan over high heat, bring 2 to 3 quarts water to a boil. Add vegetables. Cook until they turn bright green, 2 to 4 minutes. Drain; immerse in ice water until cool; drain again.

2. Rinse fish, scallops, and shrimp; pat dry. Cut fish into 1/4-inch-thick slices, about 2 inches long. Cut scallops crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices. Cut shrimp in half lengthwise. Arrange fish, scallops, and shrimp on a flat dish.

3. In a 3-quart metal chafing dish or pan over high heat, bring all Asian broth to a boil. If using a 2-quart fondue pan, fill halfway with boiling broth (keep remaining broth hot; cover, and set over lowest heat on a range).

4. Set container on an alcohol or canned solid-fuel flame or an electric burner set on high heat. Arrange vegetables, seafood, sauces, and rice near pan.

5. Spear foods, 1 piece at a time, with fondue forks or thin skewers (metal or wood) and immerse in broth. Cook vegetables until they are hot, and seafood until barely opaque in thickest part, 30 seconds to 1 minute. Dip hot foods into sauces and eat. As liquid evaporates in pan, add more boiling broth, using all.

Dreaming of Key West

Had a lovely time last night with some awesome coworkers @ New York Pizza and Bar  the happy hour was a bargain and the food was so delicious I will definitely will be visiting the.m again, hopefully with the great gang from last night. Miss Kim, Ray, Vicki, Big C, and Wade.I had to rush outta there though to catch the Nutcracker at Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center. It was lovely seeing my friend Sheila's kids. So Cute. I had a very nice Friday night. So why is it that:
Winter hasn't even started and already, I'm feeling that itch.
The "What the **** am I doing in another rainy, gloomy, depressing 30 degree Seattle day?" itch.
Problem is, besides the monetary one, travel time.
I can't stand airports, airplanes, and wait time.
I dread the claustrophobia of it all.  I can't bear not being able to escape. Where are the gd exits?
I would rather sit in my car, knowing I can always exit it. for 3 days then one 6 hour flight. I endure, because the reward of sitting at the pool with something slushy is all worth it.

Whatsa matter yoga

Yesterday's yoga class was interesting. It was a very blustery windy, all the leaves are now on the floor kind of commute took me for ever to get home and to take the dog out so I felt very rushed to get to the 4:30 pm Hatha Class @ Balance Yoga Studio in Woodinville http://balanceyogastudio.co
This is the instructor and her Bio.
 100000004_mobile
Cecilia Boehme walked into a studio in 2004, to sign up for African drumming classes and found a yoga class in progress. Opening that one door has led her to believe that yoga can affect powerful and positive change, one step at a time. In 2008 she completed a two year, 330 hour course in the study of B.K.S Iyengar tradition of Classical Yoga studies with her teacher Peggy Kelly, Austin Yoga Institute, TX. Teaching since 2006, helps prepare her for her Introductory level one Iyengar assessment in the fall of 2011. She continues to study with her Junior & Senior level Iyengar teachers; Peggy Kelly, George Purvis, Paula Weithman (Texas) and Pat Musburger (WA). Her other passions are her work as an Artist, (BFA), Pilates and language Instructor, Wife and Mother. Her favorite quote: PEACE- it does not mean to be in a place where there is no fun, noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart and mind. (Unknown)

I walked in and was the only student. Right away I feel a little nervous, but hey when are you ever going to get a class all to yourself? Cecilia was standing on her head against a wall and I introduced myself. We started and I must say she really worked out all my kinks, I feel tired but rejuvinated. The only sucky part, we worked on my upperbody quite a bit and right between my shoulder blades, I am so sore. It feels like it's on fire.
Well I'm not going back to the studio tonite I've got a date with some girlfriends I'll tell you guys all about it tommorrow.

An atipical Tuesday @ Casa Herren

I'm truly turning into a West Coasty gal. Did some things I would have never done if I still lived in Texas.

Got a deal for two weeks for $20 unlimited Yoga at Balance Yoga Studio in Woodinville http://balanceyogastudio.co/
my teacher was:
100000005_mobile Tamara Martin
Tamara's inspiration for yoga came from her first hula dance lessons as a child. The experience of living in Hawaii as a young child even for just a couple of years left an indelible impression. Island living had a pulse to it that she very much associated with yoga. She was introduced to yoga in the 8th grade. Years later as a mom with 3 young children, yoga fed her desire for graceful movement and relaxation. Her teaching style is hatha flow. She believes it is great to get the body moving, linking each asana to the breath. She feels that Hatha flow is so inclusive, becoming united in our intention to move and breath thus becoming healthier people in body and mind. Yoga is such a gift to Tamara, she enjoys using humor to encourage people on and off the mat. Her intention is always to help students smile on the outside as well as on the inside. Tamara's teachings are inspired by: Acts 17:28 "For in him we live and move and have our being." Yoga can be a great tool to lead us to open our being to the God of our own understanding. In Sanskrit she would say "Om, shanti, shanti." Interpreted as God, peace, peace.

The above was taken from her profile.
I went a little overboard, two classes at once the first was called Restorative and all we did was hug pillows and lay there. Its suppose to de-stress, relax and restore your body into a state of balance. My favorite part of that class was putting my legs in the air.
The second Class was Vinyasa Flow this was a little faster, but quite easy by this point all I wanted was to take a nap. This was what I thought Yoga was all about back in the day (before Bikrahm and Shakti). Well how am I feeling today? I feel like my shakras are aligned ;)
No really, I liked it. I'm a little tired but de-stressed.

On my way home, I stopped at the gas station to fill up, was just sitting there next to the nozzle (Thank God) when a fountain of gas gushed out. The auto stop malfunctioned and I got gas all over the car and my shoes. I was afraid I was going to catch fire.

Got home, Craig is waiting for me, lets go get dinner. Off to Izumi our favorite Japanese restaurant.http://izumikirkland.com/
I had the Fried Oysters and Ankimo (monk fish liver)  OMG so good
Craig had the Bento Box. We've been going to this restaurant since we moved here in 1996. The freshest and we always enjoy our meal.

Finally got home and there was a box waiting for me. Our son Andrew is selling Zrii and I got my first taste of it last night. Well see how it makes me feel, and if I loose more weight taking this stuff.
Here's the link to Andrew's website so you can try it

updated this blog thought I'd give it another go

You thought that I had broke up with you but your wrong...I'm going to start posting on blogger again b/c the V.A. blocks all my other pages on Tumblr so I thought I'd give this blog an update and let you know what's up in my life.
Around this time every year I re-evaluate where I stand in the world, what I've done and what is still waiting for me in the coming year. I pick this time because it is around my birthday, right before the Holiday Madness,  and the crisp Fall air gives me a feeling a reflection and renewal. I usually make a four part list of stuff: 1. What went right  2. What went wrong  3. What I want and 4. What I'm going to do.
Most people do this during New Year's but it takes me 11 months to recover from that and so....

1. What went right.

Even though the daily commute sucks, I really enjoy my job. Working for all these great teams, and meeting alot of interesting people, I can honestly say that my job is not boring. Of course no job is perfect, but I feel very fulfilled in what I do.

I think my love life has never been better (that's all I'm saying about that).

I'm feeling very healthy, exercise and diet are working.

Volunteering at the RotaCare Clinic in Bellevue on Saturday's rocks.

I'm enjoying my scooter. I love running around all over town in my little 2009 Yamaha Vino 125. I still need to pick out a nice name for her.

My paper crafting and Etsy store give me alot of personal satisfaction and I really enjoy stamping up with my meetup friends.

2. What went wrong. Or as I like to call it "Reflections of Missteps and Guilt".

Should of gone to Texas this year. Would of really like to see friends, family, mom and Andrew. Would have loved to talk to Sara one last time. I did love her like family.

Have become more HERMIT like lately.

Can't think of anything else

3. What I want.
To be debt free.

For Andrew to find his way.

To have more Friends.

To loose more pounds.

To paint the upstairs bathrooms, closets, my bedroom ceiling and craft room

And maybe a motorcycle

If wishes where horses....then beggars would ride.

4. What I'm going to.

Make a budget and stick to it.

Blog every day. Be a better communicator.  Talk more often with friends and family (Yes, on the phone). Answer all calls. Do Not Forget Appointments especially with friends. Get out with other people, be more forgiving  and open

Exercise more.  Just joined the local yoga studio plan to go there every week. Do aerobics on Thursdays @ the Y with my neighbor Gosia. Use the equipment in the "Cabana". Get into Volksmarching again
Drink less booze. Eat healthier. Lose more pounds!!!

Take more pictures

Paint....Paint...Paint!
